A snippet from today's newsletter
Cheers, RogWe remain in discussions with the Robin Hood Airport management and the police on whether a final flight can be scheduled, given concerns about crowds around the airport.
Any final flight will need to be before Friday 30th October, because after then, certain components on the aircraft will have exhausted their cleared calendar life, and so the aircraft will no longer be airworthy prior to overhaul of those components.
Given all the constraints, any final flight will need to be carefully co-ordinated with the full support of our neighbours, with above all else, public safety firmly in mind.
The draw of seeing XH558 on such a historic occasion will be significant, and is confirmed by the huge crowds seen during this her Final Season. ‘The Vulcan Effect’ may now actually be counter-productive to what we all wish to achieve!
We are determined that as many people as possible have the chance to view any final flight and landing by live streaming over the internet and by recording it, both with high quality still photography and in the very latest 4K video.

It was from the newsletter, quoted it.martmpf wrote:Pure speculation and maths.GVLCN wrote:If it hasn't gone up today, there will be a flight within the next 3 days so keep an eye out!
Newsletter statement the there will no flights this weekend,
"There will be in the next three days".

Not looking promising
Re: Final flights XH558
why was she taken out the hangar today and then returned, are they allowed to say refuel her and put her back in the hangar refueld ?
Re: Final flights XH558
By fuelling prior to the 'surprise' final flight it negates a further clue as to when the flight goes, limits time in the 'open' for the locals to pass-on intel' & severely cuts the time available for the number of people that can respond & attend!
Wouldn't surprise me if they crew-in & do half the pre-flight checklist still in the hangar? This will be the "Mother of all QRA's"

Sad if its true, and looking that way. What a way to treat all those supporters. Seems like they had so long to think about this final flight. Why didn't they just land her after the farewell tour, because although some would of gone to Doncaster, a lot would of gone to local venues.Supra wrote:By fuelling prior to the 'surprise' final flight it negates a further clue as to when the flight goes, limits time in the 'open' for the locals to pass-on intel' & severely cuts the time available for the number of people that can respond & attend!

Re: Final flights XH558
Never mind Folks, it will soon be out of airframe time and parked at Doncaster.
Off to RAF Scampton this week just in case they plan to fly it with RAFAT as a final, final, final, final, final...
It has been fun, especially for the crew

Perhaps also unlikely, as Red 2/3 have only just started learning the intricasies of "holding the bank" etc.

Having already flown an 8 aircraft, as well as 4,5, and 6 aircraft formations it appears they are more talented than you give them credit formirage41 wrote:Perhaps also unlikely, as Red 2/3 have only just started learning the intricasies of "holding the bank" etc.
