Photo Challenge - Winter 2011
Introduction
Introducing the new Fighter Control Season Photo Challenge, still in its infancy and now on its second round.
This is a new concept being introduced to present Fighter Control members with an excellent opportunity to become involved in styles of photography that you may not have attempted as well as engaging in new methods of post processing.
It is still under trial, if you have any ideas you feel may benefit the photo challenge then let a member of the staff team know.
The Tasks
Before reading the tasks, please familiarise yourself with the rules:- viewtopic.php?f=325&p=258643#p258643
Each season you will be presented with five different categories, and you will enter one photo for each category to create your competition portfolio which will comprise of five photos.
This portfolio will then be judged by both members and staff - the judging method is currently being worked on and we will have it decided in good time before the judging begins.
The five categories are randomly selected.
Category 1 - Aircraft types: WWII aircraft (Can be taken anytime)
Category 2 - Close up: A close-up with aircrew or groundcrew as the main focus.
Category 3 - Action: Aircraft using reheat (Can be taken anytime)
Category 4 - Weather: Snow (Can be taken anytime) - As of 01 Feb
Category 5 - Editing technique: Colour popping (Can be taken anytime)
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I look forward to seeing how this goes down and I hope all participants enjoy it.

Colour popping is when you bring out the colour of one, or a few, aspects of the image.LightningGoose wrote:Looks good, but may I ask, what is Colour Popping?
For example:-

This Winter, however, if by January there is little snowfall I may have to amend this.triplexxxf2 wrote:like wise when do the snow shots have to have been taken (anytime)?

Re: Photo Challenge - Winter 2011
I'm just glad that the randomly selected category 4 came up this time of year
This is a great idea Chris, especially getting members to play around with editing techniques. I'm also pleased you are allowing more categories to use photographs taken anytime because it's not always easy to complete the entry with recent images. Thumbs up from me.

Re: Photo Challenge - Winter 2011
If no decent snowfall arrives by end of January, then I will change that category so you can submit a photo taken any time.

Re: Photo Challenge - Winter 2011
As no decent amount of snow has fallen, I have changed the snow entry to an anytime.
