Albacete May 17 - stored Mirage F.1

Seen a military aircraft recently but NOT at one of the bases or airfields listed below? Maybe it flew over the top of you today? Need to tie up the serial? Ask in here. Requests less than 6 months old only please.

Albacete May 17 - stored Mirage F.1

Post by slogen51 » Sun Jun 04, 2017 2:25 pm

Hi

Did anyone read off the 5 stored EdA Mirages that were visible from the civil terminal at Albacete in May 2017. There were four facing right and one facing left. Some of the codes were obscured.

I read off :-
C.14-04 - couldn't see nose for code.
C.14-89 / 14-47 ** looks like c.14-69 ***

Then there were two that I messed up in the heat haze!
1) Code 14-49 - this was reported as having no tail and should be C.14-91 (ex tiger scheme)

2) one that looked like C.14-90 or C.14-80 *** EDIT IT WAS C.14-90 **** end edit

I should have sneaked a photo.

Ta
Mike

Finally answered my own question after a recent trip to Albacete!

There are six Mirage F.1 , one with out a tail opposite the civil terminal

Facing east:
C.14-69/14-47
C.14-90 code blocked by above
C.14-04 code blocked by above
C.14.66 code blocked by code 14-49 below
C.No tail / 14-49

And one mirage facing west - code and serial obscured.

In a nearby dump/ compound there are two C-101
One code (79)-47
The other C-101 is silver

Plus a hornet in a desert camo like nawc scheme.

Hi Mike,

C.14-69/14-47
C.14-90 code blocked by above
C.14-04 /14-02 in Jan 16 code blocked by above
C.14.66 14-38 in Jan 16 blocked by code 14-49 below
C.No tail / 14-49 noted in Jan 17 as C.14-91 minus tail.

E.25-47 was 79-47 in May 17.

Fair enough

But it sure looked like 69 through a scope with no heat haze

After some googling c.14-89/14-47 would seem to be correct after all.
