5 OTU RAF Aston Down

Post by waghorn41 » Thu May 11, 2017 6:36 pm

Wonder if anyone here can help. I'm trying to find the ORB, or equivalent, for 5 OTU during August 1940. Usual searches on the TNA website have proved fruitless. My uncle trained there first on Blenheims then on Hurricanes before joining the fray of the Battle of Britain.

At a guess 5 OTU at Aston Down was renumbered 55 OTU around the outbreak of war - 5 OTU became a Coastal Command OTU in early 1943.

Try AIR 29/682 to see if the early incarnation of 5 OTU's records are merged with 55 OTU's. I've seen similar for other training units during my research at Kew.
