Re: B-52D Deployment 1979-82
Hi Red,
I think I'm correct in saying that there were 14 B-52D deployments to the UK 1979 - 82. The only a/c on you're list participating in those deployments was 50090 - at Upper Heyford in Nov'80. (This also deployed to 'Heyford in Sept'76)
As for the others, I'm not aware of them ever visiting the UK but if you did see them over here I would be very interested to know where that was.
cheers,
Graham

Re: B-52D Deployment 1979-82
Thanks Graham i wish i knew,i had assumed id seen them at brize, fairford or marham but that now seems unlikely.
the oldest book that i still have them noted in was 1987 so no clues as to even the exact year seen although i thought it was around the time i saw these ones
55-0071,55-0080,56-0694 seen 27.04.80 at Marham
56-0606,56-0617,56-0671 seen 25.08.80 at Brize Norton
56-0600,56-0679,56-0690 seen 26-04-81 also Brize
many thanks again for looking

Re: B-52D Deployment 1979-82
Hi Gents
Unless I'm missing something in the FC archives, I can't see any direct mention of a (16th) July 1980 sighting of D's at Upper Heyford and on Oct 13th at Brize. Could somebody possibly confirm 40 years on that these dates are correct and any serials involved ?
Cheers
Bob

Hi ranger one one,
Think these extracts from BAR cover your query....
BAR1980/AU308 - 50677 and 60585 (arrived 15/07, both 96BW) at Upper Heyford "were on exercise ' Busy Brewer ' and participated in exercise ' Priory ' before returning home on 18.7."
BAR1980/O395 -- "96thBW B-52D's 50677, 60659 and 60676 arrived from Dyess AFB on 10.9 for a five-week stay in support of exercises Teamwork, Cold Fire and Display Determination. They were supported on 10.9 by 96thBW KC-135A 38886 which went on to Fairford. B-52D 60676 carries a MiG-kill star on either side of its nose, gained during the Arc Light campaign in the Vietnam war . It shot down its prey during December 1972."
Cheers,
Bob

I also logged those three (all 22BW) at Marham on 01/05/1982.
