'Thunderbirds' serials at Waddington anybody?

Post by lindslow » Tue Jul 05, 2011 7:54 am

Might be a silly question but does anybody have serial / individual aircraft tie-ups for the team at Waddington this year. I've seen it posted that the aircraft were:-
91-0392
92-3880
92-3881
92-3888
92-3890
92-3896
92-3898
92-3908
BUT which codes 1-8 are allocated to which airframe!

Which day/hour are you after? They changed at least twice whilst there I believe!

Hmmm! I'm after Monday 4/7/11 at 1138 when they departed.
Wasn't aware they'd had aircraft swaps!!

The side numbers are stick ons which they swap aircraft around due to serviceability etc

I have a photo waiting to be rejected by A.net of 92-3890 (serial visible on the red tags) taken on Saturday that had T'bird 8 engine intake cover.
Don't do numbers but assume its correct and they were fitted to the correct jet.

Thanks for that Ian. They're so meticulous I'll take that as one out of the eight identified
Had to laugh at the A.net bit. I'm familiar with that aspect of the waiting game too!!

I assumed he meant the safety pin warning ribbons?

Gents,

Are non of you on the Mil Spotters Forum?

The information has been posted on there by Graham Gaff (ELAS and official check-list compiler for the show). The T-Bird serials were checked off the aircraft Thursday, Friday & Saturday and there were no changes throughout the weekend.

As Graham posted this on a public forum I`m hoping he won`t mind me replicating the info here as there seems to be a lot of people searching pics etc. They were:

91-0392/6
92-3880/4
92-3881/3
92-3888/5
92-3890/(8)
92-3896/(7)
92-3898/1
92-3908/2

I should also add I have seen the same list (albiet in a different order) from another source who also checked them on Friday on the flightline and they completely concur with Graham`s listing.

HTH

So this post by Chris Globe is a load of nonsense ?

And where did he get the info from ? I must admit that I found it very hard to believe at the time.

I don't know if they changed them over the weekend as I spent all of my time at the other end of the crowd line but I was on base for their arrival and as soon as they had parked them up they swapped at least some of the numbers.

Apologies, then, if I have offended you with my "nonsense" - As Gord said, they were changed after they arrived, and I believe they were changed quite early on the Saturday, although I didn't see it myself as I was at home, in Manchester.

No, and it was more fun looking through the photos to find the serials :thumb:

I notice you say you weren't there now Chris so your question, which I answered, but which you never replied to, was probably impossible for you to answer anyway??
Which begs the question, why put the question in the first place???
I don't wish to nit-pick but just to make a point.

No, I wasn't able to answer, I was just replying to extract the information that others may have needed in order to answer your request. As it seems the info I had about the codes being changed over the weekend was wrong, it was irrelevant anyway.

OK. Well it certainly worked. Thanks for the explanation.
