Hi,
I was stationed on 224 Squadron with Shackleton MR.2 at RAF Gibraltar 1964-66. Long time ago I lost my log book so if anyone can supply a list of squadron Shacks at that time it would be greatly appreciated. Also we had a Pembroke C.1 on station so if anyone has any clues to it's id that would be helpful. Long shot I know but that's what this forum is for and it's always providing miracles!

Re: Shackletons 224 Sqn
Hi,
The following is what I have for 224 during the period you mention. The U.K. shackleton Sqns at that time had an establishment of six aircraft, the foreign based Sqns were variable, not sure how many 224 were allocated, perhaps four or five.
WL789/A 2/62-10/66
WG533/B. 1/62-10/66
WR951/W. 19/61-10/66
WL755/T 9/61-12/65
WG532/Z 8/61-8/66
All Phase II modified standard.
Regards
David

Re: Shackletons 224 Sqn
David,
Thanks for that info.
I can remember going up in 'Alpha' on a test flight, rather hairy when you chop engines for the first time but over 50 years later I'm still here to tell the tale. I left Gibraltar in September 66 and 224 was disbanded a month later, I wonder if it was it something I said!! If I remember correctly we had 6 a/c but at weekends, especially in the summer months, there were literally dozens of shacks from a variety of UK squadrons visiting on 'training' flights, stocking up on their duty free!!
Thanks again for your reply. it was appreciated.
