Well it looks like they've found a use for at least one of the Voyager surge fleet:
Telegraph: David Cameron and senior ministers to get dedicated plane
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politic ... plane.html
-----
The government will announce next week that it will spend £10million refitting an RAF plane which is normally used for air-to-air refuelling.
...
...government source insisted that the converted RAF plane will not be "luxurious" in stark contrast to the jets used by other World leaders.
...
...when the plane is not in use it will return to military refuelling duties.
So if the refueling equipment is going to remain in place so that it can still serve as a tanker, and it's not going to get a luxurious interior, then what precisely needs "refitting"?
I suppose a benefit of this is that if ever the PM needs to fly over/into somewhere dangerous, they will actually be able to trail a couple of Typhoon escorts with them as "aerial bodyguards"!
And another point - I suppose this means that 32 Sqn's 146s are now a candidate for cutting?
