A new government, a new political climate, a new financial environment, a weaker currency - so all bets are off about what could happen in the future, a new or adjusted SDSR apparently seems most likely.

But we live in unusual interesting times. With Trump in the usual SDSR Treasury demanded cuts are not necessarily inevitable. If MOD has regained street credibility with the Treasury about demonstrating proper financial control, it might be spared. It's like the prisons, cuts have gone too far. Too small a surface fleet now loosing its anti-ship missile and still waiting for the P8. No navy fighters, if the F35B programme is cancelled what then? The army is too small to fight a conventional war, which the USA now thinks more likely, it's returning tanks to Europe. The RAF can only retire the Tornado and hope it gets the F35A. The Trump Spectre means uncertainty about the defence of the Realm. Perhaps we should join the Wa...... :grr:
