Oh and apparently West Mercia Police will be shutting the road behind RAPRA at the South side of the airfield, to keep public away and out of the fields. However the North end will be as per usual for viewing.

Don't know where you're getting your info from - but Shrophire Council only mention the 'expected' closure of the A464 for the display.GhostWalker wrote:Oh and apparently West Mercia Police will be shutting the road behind RAPRA at the South side of the airfield, to keep public away and out of the fields. What would be the advantage of closing a road at Shawbury? There's no display being held or 'Red Box' to infringe...

Reds in today between 1330 and 1430 depending on air traffic over the North Sea on transit route. Weather is not great for Sunday with wind speed up over 30 knots plus gusting. Will be a low level display at Cosford again will depend on the cloud base. When they get in at Shawbury today rain is expected so prob a straight land and park with no fly over. Typical the weather spoils everything!
Re: Cosford Airshow 11th June
NOTAM says the Reds are arriving at 11am Sunday. Leave for Welshpool and Cosford at 13.40 and back to Scampton at 16.40.

UPDATE:
Reds have cancelled their transit today due to bad weather over the North Sea, so now due in at 11:20 Sunday morning. This is a direct update from Shawbury ATC at 1045 hours today.
Display will be low level at Cosford as cloud base set to be below 900ft.

First time visiting Shawbury tomorrow, where should I be heading for a good view?

Re: Cosford Airshow 11th June
If you turn onto a lane that runs behind the Rapra offices on the South and of the airfield, that is the best place. Wind is likely to be SSW tomorrow so they may take off towards the South and which is always a good view. If you climb over crash gate 1 into the field there is a fence that gives great views down the airfield and onto dispersal etc. It will be busy though just bare that in mind. Enjoy it as the Reds coming to Shawbury is always great it's kind of their 2nd home in the UK.
Re: Cosford Airshow 11th June
Brilliant, thank you....
Re: Cosford Airshow 11th June

Re: Cosford Airshow 11th June
Public are ok in the field just beyond crash gate 1 up to the mesh style fence, but do not go beyond any fence that marks MOD property. The farmer that owns this field is happy with it as long as you don't trample on any crops. Stick to the sides of the field only as this is the way it's been done for years.
Re: Cosford Airshow 11th June

No but the Hawk with the names on the tale fin xx322 did not take part, as it is a spare jet only and will only ever be used if more than 2 of 10 reds break at the same time rtf.
So names on a plane is a bit misleading for all those who though they had their name on a red that would actually be part of the displays.
Bit naughty by the RAF to do this if you ask me....
