In 2015 the Hawk T1 finally started to surcome to her age, and after 40 years of training and flying, a gradual reduction in numbers started. The first squadron to be retired was 100 Squadron at Leeming, but it was not all doom and gloom. As the banner was stood down on Friday, Monday morning saw the first of a new breed emerge!
100 Squadron had been given the FGR4 Typhoon, and was now fully capable of being a radar intercept agressor squadron (the older T1 had no radar and thus Air to Air was only possible with ground assistance). Wanting to be more than just black, the Ministry of Defence and Royal Air Force opted for a modern splinter camoflague.
So here she is, ZJ913 [CO] of 100 Squadron taking to the skies with full reheat in use

Keen to show what she was capable of some DACT was done, first up with a Hawk T2 from IV Sqn Valley

and then a visiting F-16 from Spangdalem

Thanks for looking all and look forward to the comments
