Very nice. Is that the Airfix 1:48 scale kit? If so did you have issues fitting the undercarriage doors in the up position? Total pig on my kit and clearly not meant to be installed closed. Had to pad out with tissue as the doors have nothing to rest against when gluing shut.. not to mention they just don't fit and leave gaps.

Also can I ask what the clear rod is and where its from for the upright? Is the wooden base home made or bought?

Thanks.

I'm not a modeler myself, but I would guess that the clear rod is acrylic = 'Perspex'. I have a 2" diameter 5 ft rod of the stuff in my garage, but never found a use for it - perhaps I should build a very large (1:5 scale?) model aircraft!
Cheers, TM74
PS. Good model too.

Thanks chaps.

Yep, 1/48 scale and a very old but wonderful kit in my view.

The rod is indeed acrylic, this one being either 6 or 8 mil. Easy enough to find on eBay as is the wooden plinth. Both cost approx. £4 each IIRC but the £8 addition to the build is better then the headache of making it yourself depending if your good at woodwork which I am not.

As for the doors, I think I use a small ball of Blu Tak to `pad` out the wheel well. Holds it in place well enough so the glue can dry.

Hope that answers your questions.
