Lightning T5 11sqn,binbrook 1972

Post by mickfgr2 » Sun Sep 03, 2017 1:59 pm

This is the latest completion off the bench. Its the sword offering of a lightning t5 in 1/48. I built it to depict xs416 T as delivered to 11sqn at RAF Binbrook in January 1967 & was also the first T5 to reach 1000 hrs of flight in August of 1972.

This is not the best kit in the world but with a bit of perseverance & work i think it turned out ok. If you got this far thanks for looking.Mick

I like it - what paints / technique did you use to get the NMF?

Hi Mickfgr2

Bit of a pain but 11 Sqn were based at Leuchars until moving to Binbrook in 1972. Sorry but thats the joys of growing up near a Lightning base....

Yes they really were the good old days....

A Slight take on the old Propliners magazine strapline saying Jets are for kids perhaps....

Typhoons are for kids, Lightnings are for Grown ups.. :Wow:

Thank you patrick,it wasn't the best of kits to build but it turned out ok.I have another one to do to go with it but that one will be done as a T4 possibly from 29 or 56 sqn i haven't made my mind up yet.
