Typhoon flightline Update 06/07/16 41 Sqn Special

Post by Pcxr » Wed Apr 29, 2015 5:36 pm

A while ago I set myself the challenge of building a 1/72 Revell Typhoon for each of the RAF squadrons. I have since set myself the task of building a single and twin seat of each squadron plus the Special tails.

I have decals for all including 6 Sqn special, 29 Sqn black tail and D Day marked aircraft

Waiting on the release of the recent 11 Sqn black tail, 29 Sqn red tail, 2015 Camouflage and 2 Sqn decals. I should have 23 aircraft when finished.

Note they are all different beside decals and 29sqn needs a few touches to finish such as canards.
Here's so far....

Cheers mate. I know a lot of modellers on here use airbrush but I don't have that. All these and most of my models are hand painted with brush.

Nice work, how many models will you have when the collection is finished? (I'm doing something similar with Hawker Hunters at the moment  )

Dont say that! I have the same idea using the Hasegawa Typhoon!

Love the 1 sqn machine and if you have weathered the 6 sqn machine, i actually like that for once! You need a bit of variety in the APU stains though!

I know there's alto when you start adding them up. Weathered the 6 Sqn a bit as some of them were looking not so new before the left Leuchars down the road from me.

Good comment with the APU, didn't study them much just remember seeing the marks but consulting Google there is a difference from jet to jet, idea for the next one out my factory.

Aye,
Was there the day they arrived but could only watch from The Dundee Law when they left!

That's a great little project - are you going to do the evaluation typhoons that spent time at Warton?

Not sure about the evaluation ones but have toyed with creating a new factory aircraft in the Brown/Sand colours and dark RAF rondel and flash markings

Would be great eventually to see your completed line up once you finally get the markings for AIrcraft you don't have yet. Good luck for the rest of the project.

Just finished the 29 Sqn D-Day special. Didn't realise that the stripes were not in the Hannants kit and were to be painted on before using their decals. Was a bit of a challenge but turned out ok.

I have been building the 29 Sqn Black "XXX" special tail at the same time but havnt completed the decals yet, will follow shortly
