PEA GB - US Navy P-8A Poseidon

Post by GreenBat » Sun Sep 02, 2012 9:48 am

Here's my entry for this Group Build, I hope to turn these goodies into a US Navy P-8A Poseidon.
Although this aircrafts main role is Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) it also has ELINT capabilities, so I have checked with tc2324 and he is happy for this to be entered under the ELINT catagory. Cheers tc2324.

Ok, first update, nothing too exciting to report, but here goes.

The Kit.
Image

First job is to fill in all the windows, so I cut some strips of plasticard and glued them to the inside of the fuselage to give support to the filler.
Image

Taped up to protect the recessed panel lines, and filler added.
Image

Filler rubbed down, and I'm fairly happy with the results.

Well, thats one half done, now for the other half
Thats all for now, more soon.
Cheers.
Stuart.

A little more progress...... apologies for the quality of the pic's

Main assembly done and all the Lumps, Bumps and Antenna Array's added.
I have been rather disappointed with the quality of the aftermarket resin kit (a bit inacurate & crude) so the wing tips and many of the lump and bumps were sratch built from plasticard and the spares box.

A coat of white primer reveals a few areas that require a bit ot filling but nothing to worry about.

Thanks for looking

Time for another little update :thumb:

Fuselage has been given a couple of coats of BAC707 grey (FS16515) and a coat of Klear and I have made a start on the decals.
Image

Lots more decals still to go on, and then engines need assembling, painting and decals etc1

Cheers

Looking good dude, just remember if you want accuracy dont use the kit engines, they are correct for an early series pig, but not the NG series. :thumb:

Cheers again guys :thumb:

@ seven, yes, the engines will be an issue, I had ordered some resin ones but a problem with the U.S. vendor means I will have to work some magic on the kit engines

@ Tc, its not a very big model, fuselage length = 27cm & wingspan = 25cm. Heres a pic next to an 1/72 Tornado, which as with most of my projects requires completion!!!
