WIP - 1/72 Italeri Bell 412 Griffin HT1/HAR2
Hi all,
First of all i hope this in the right place!
First time ive taken part in a competition and is really down to the confidence that has grown from comments on here and Airshows. At the end of the competition i hope to bring a diorama, another first for me, that will include the following in 1/72nd,
Bell 412EP Griffin HT1 ZJ234/S using the Italeri B412 and Model Alliance/Airframe UK Air Arm Update V
Bell 412EP Griffin HAR2 ZJ704, again using the Italeri B412 and Model Alliance UK Air Arm Update I
And finally(or not) Bell 212 AH3 ZK206 using the recent boxing of Revells AB212/UH-1N and markings cobbled together from various sources including Modeldecal lettering and numbers sheet.
The (or not) might be an AS350BB Squirrel HT1 from Airframe if it is released in time.
The box and sprue shots for now, first the Italeri B412 then the Revell 212.
The eagle eyed amongst you will see there is a great deal of common parts between both kits and strangely the 212 boxing contains bits for the 412 as well!
More in a week or 2!
Arabest,
Geoff.

Very nice - I've got exactly the same kit and I will be doing the Grey Griffin that is round Valley, in its Akoriti colours. Watching this to see how it all comes together.

First off the mark and I`m looking forward to this Geoff.
Have to say though, that it looks like a lot of parts for a small kit. Quite surprised by that.

You will just have to wait and see as interiors are most certainly not my strong point!

Seen as this one has dropped a few pages, i though its about time for an update
With other projects, GBs and life getting in the road, ive not spent much time on this one. A wee bit of progress on a couple of interiors(212/412) and one of the fuselage together(412).
More soon,
Arabest,
Geoff.

I like the look of this kit. I still haven't started mine yet. I'm having another rethink of what i'm going to do, as like yourself, GBs, life and work will deffinately get in the way of it.

Hi all,
Until this week, ive been looking at a box of Bell bits and asking, what are they for?
Then it struck me that i have a competition to get on with!!!
Not too much progress to show but then there is not too much to these helicopters. The 212 AH1 and one of the Griffins have jumped ahead with the 212 probably ready to get some(more) paint thrown at it. White bits are the 212 and only dry-fitted for now.
And i have just realised ive thrown grey primer over all doors instead of one small pair in white for the red top coat! Oh well, sort that out soon.
Arabest,
Geoff.

Hi all,
Having a wee(huge) clear out for the start of the Easter holidays saw me clearing the shelfs of doom for a dusting. Found these having not progressed since last year and managed to be distracted enough from the cleaning for long enough to prime the 212. Hope to have some pictures over the next few days but the current GB is priority.
Sadly, 2 damaged Phantoms didnt make it!
Arabest,

I'm looking forward to seeing this come together.
Am I reading right mate that you are making up a Brit version?
That would be so cool as I would have to copy this build for my own collection.

Might be a good idea to keep them for a diorama for the upcoming aggressor/decoy GB...ArabJazzie wrote:Hi all,

Re: WIP - 1/72 Italeri Bell 412 Griffin HT1/HAR2
Hello all,
I know ive not posted around here for a while and sorry for resurrecting a thread started 3 years ago but there has been some progress at last!
Some of you might know that in the last year, i got into a challenge where myself and Deacon on Airshows, challenged each other to build 52 kits in a year. Deacon passed that mark around September/October while it took me to the last few days to complete my 53!
Off the back of that challenge, i had a few that had been started but for whatever reason, fell by the wayside. When older stalled builds and some from a mate were counted on NYD, there were 29 sitting on the shelf of doom! Since then, a Phantom FGR2, Lightning T4, spitfire MkIa, Spitfire Mk22 have been finished and an Italeri Harrier GR3 scrapped!
So here is no 5 for this year in the shape of ZK206 from AAC Middle Wallop built from the 1/72nd Revell Bell 212. Mostly painted with Tamiya with decals from a Modeldecal sheet no36 and spare(Airfix GR9?) roundels.
One that im not really proud of for many reasons. There are also some bits where i got frustrated and are not up to standard. I also broke the rotor shaft assembly with most of the components consigning themselves to the laminate monster. They all turned up again after a day or 2 but i had by then used a paperclip to rebuild it.
Arabest,
Geoff.
