1/72 AIRFIX Dominie into HS125 ZF130

Post by buzzer » Fri Oct 21, 2011 7:20 pm

Been wanting to build this one for some time now..
got a cheap Airfix Dominie of the bay, rather than buy the Matchbox HS 125 as thay seem to be going for silly money these days
so first of built it up as is..with some left over milliput to start to build up the nose.

Image
then worked out the the over cabin "monobrow!" was there on the HS125-600(as ZF130 is based on)so it was removed witha razor saw.
Image
and the cut peace glued back on.
Image
Image
worked out that the Blue vixon radar nose was to short.. so chopped it of! and plugged it with more milliput.also built the spine as this was allso larger/longer on the 600B model.
Image

need to lenghten the fuselage,so first cut it in half!

Image
then heated up some plastic carb and bent it round to make a 2 peace plug..
then forgot to take some photos of it all coming together :halo:
but after the plug was fitted, lower fuselage hump(as fitted to the Dominie, but not the 125.)was removed and reshaped with filler.
and lots of filling, shaping and modding. this is were its at.

more to do yet.. so will update when i have done ;)
anyone spot anything i have missed?? what we think?

Wow is your day job a surgeon? I've not seen so much done to a model before. You're not far off scratch building the thing!

should have updated it a bit earlier in the week. i had to scratch build loads of little bits for it. new taller upper fin, under side lumps and bump and little antennas here and there  but after couple of good coats of primer, and wet flat it. its ready for a first coat of white.

I posted the photo on this site a couple of weeks ago, but as you are obviously a man of good taste and a fellow Cornishman that's no problem. Looking forward to see this finished, it's been on my 'to do' list for a long time.
