Die-cast in 1/72nd scale.quite heavy,but excellent quality for about £20
as an idea,i am going to repaint mine ( F/A18,F15 and F16 ) and use up some RAF decals
thinking about 56sqn on an F15
will show some photo's if anyone interested.

Im not realy into die casts, but on reading your post I have looked into them. I couldnt believe the detail in them, I look forward to seeing some on here. If necassary I will put a die cast section on for them if more people are interested.
Re: Witty wings
I think having a small Diecast section would be a great idea Viper. Diecast collecting is becoming a big thing nowadays for those of us who just don`t have the time to fiddle with little bits of plastic.
Of course, providing I`m not breaking any rules with this info, anyone can go to the Aviation Diecast Forum and have a look around.

Well, I know some of you die hard `plastic fans` may have nasty thoughts about us `metal heads` , but as it`s a new section I thought I would start the ball rolling and post some pics of my diecast collection. Got well over 100 models now and here are a select few all in their relevent themes.
And if you want to get really `geeky` heres a pic of a Spit at North Weald. Have a guess at my low tech approach for this pic....
Hope you enjoy.

Impressive collection!
I only have two 1/72 diecast (I'll try to post a picture tomorrow) but about 15 or 20 at the 1/400 scale (still boxed up due to lack of display possibilities).
Cheers
Andy

Hobbymaster. You can get these on Ebay quite easily at the moment but you may want to hold off for a bit as Hobbymaster are going to release a second RAF Harrier in the near future that will be even more acurate so I`m told.

That is impressive, please excuse my ignorance as I don't know much about diecasts but what is a 'code 3' is it the make or a specification

Re: Die casts, Please post your colections here
it is when you take a standard production model of the diecast manufacturer and convert
ie new markings,paintjob,weapons etc

Re: Die casts, Please post your colections here
Many thanks, I never thought of doing that to one of those but I do it all the time to my kits with resin's,brass and decals. This is more interesting than I gave credit for. I hope we will see some more on here

A big piece and a smaller piece of Russian metal turned up today so all you anti communists should look away now.....
And a `heritage` shot to finish up....

I thought I would post another picture of the Harrier GR7 from Hobbymaster along with a few of the F105 which I consider is possible contender for diecast of the year

Re: Die casts, Please post your colections here
Here's a small selection of my diecasts. While the majority of them (1/400 scale) is "stashed away" in file cabinets due to insufficient display space, my only two 1/72 scale and 1/500 AWACS made it into a small mirror/glass display case.
Corgi's 1/72 USAF F-4 Phantom on the left and the AWACS on the right
Second Corgi 1/72 RAF Buccaneer
Close-up of the 1/500 Herpa AWACS selection
I realized that it's kind of difficult to photograph into a mirror display case with a flash light - all those were done with a point and shoot a while ago. Just came across them again tonight. One day I hope to be able to display my entire 1/400 diecast collection but I'm lacking the necessary display case and floor space at this time.
Thanks for looking
cheers
