Its Easter .....Egg Planes

Post by steve149c » Wed Mar 25, 2015 6:18 pm

So I'm late to the party due to being on ship as usual.....up at 0430 GMT this morning, flight back from Denmark, 200 km drive and what do I do when first in the house? Simples - EGG Planes

So which Egg to build??

Image

I settled on the T-4 Ashiya Special as I fancied something completely different from previous years.

Image

3 sprues in a white plastic, and a clear cockpit

Image

Decals - so gloss white it is plus these babies!

Image

And off to a flying start

Pilot was easy enough, and the body goes together well

Image

but some gentle use of tape to seal the cockpit in.

Cheers

Thanks Patrick and Deerhunter, let the jokes crack on!

Thanks Mike,

Slow progress but steady! Filler was applied to body and left dry, then sanded off. Wings on, and filler applied again.

Shouldn't these egg gags really be posted on the 'Scramble' forum? I'm quite 'hard-boiled' when it comes to this sort of humour but I haven't 'poached' anyone else's jokes............ :P

Lets hope there is no double yolkers in this one or they'll be fried!

They do look like a lot of fun though to build!

Oh dear oh dear, two days off with flu and you have all gone cracking bonkers!!!

So all the filling and smoothing is done, cockpit masked up and pushed into place. As you will note, the canopy frame must be red, but no decals, so I shall spray the body white, then spray the canopy red after. This gives me the option of working on the pilot seperate to the plane, then insert after.

Image

So the pilot looked a little blank, no problem, so thin wire and a 0.4mm drill bit

Image

Then a 1mm hole, and the compressed wire was pushed and glued in place. Once painted should come up trumps.

Image

The pilots visor needs more coats of Klear to smooth it over and get that shiny finish, but we have good progress!

Cheers for looking, and bring on the smashing jokes
