Many moons ago a young FTS bought his first model kit from the corner shop, I had gone in to get the TF-104G which i'd seen a few days earlier but that had sold so I grabbed whatever took my fancy which was the Hawker Tempest. Initially I wanted to build the RAF version but I stuck the wrong engine cowlings on by mistake, so I went with it and built the Indian version. Not really knowing what I was doing, I just through some paint on it and it ended up being silver with a bronze spinner. The decals were cut out and stuck on with super glue as I hadn't been told they slide off in water  So this time i'm hoping i'll do it a bit more justice.
I forgot to photograph the sprues when I started the build so unfortunately it's just the box and built shots I have to show. It's now ready for some paint and will be off to the Alclad bay shortly.

Don't beat yourself up, mate
If you had seen some of the monsters I built in my youth when given or buying a kit with 'options'
No test pilot (even Winkle Brown) would have got into the 'pit and they would have flown like a housebrick
Cheers
Patrick

Re: Matchbox 1/72 Hawker Tempest
I'm a bit annoyed that my parents never thought to take a picture of me and my first model. I didn't make the same mistake with my little one, only 2 yrs old and she's made a Sopwith Pup (with a little bit of help from daddy of course). I made sure I took pics of her making it and the finished result. She's made 2 now and helps me put mine together with the sanding, etc.
