1 72nd Phantom

Post by thegassman » Thu Apr 16, 2015 6:16 pm

Hi guys,
After a long absence from modeling and looking at the stunning results on here I have decided to get back into it and fancy making my favorite plane of all time, the Phantom, so my questions are
1 Can they still be bought?
2 where can they be bought ?
and finally is there a preference to which company makes it.
thanks in advance.

Andy

Which version are you looking for? Almost all have been covered over the years, but there are a few that are best avoided!

Hello bud,if your into 1/72 scale kits then i would pass on the old Matchbox kits. The canopy profile is not that great on them.Revell do some very nice Phantom kits.If you are after British Phantoms then your going to have to hunt down Fujimi model kits.Very good to build and they go together very well.

As looking for these they can be easily found on evil bay :thumb: Happy hunting and remember and post your pics when you get it built, cheers.

If it's UK Phantoms you want as said above the kits to go for are either the Fujimi or the Revell/Hasegawa. It all depends on what scale you need. Both are not what can be considered new kits by any stretch of the imagination, but both are still rather good builds.

If your in the game for aftermarket decals you could check out my efforts. We are just about to release the first of a number of UK Phantom decal sheets. Already getting rather good praise on the forums/facebook etc.

Personally I would look at Hasegawa, the tooling on them is fantastic.
