No, sorry, I Cant give you a date as to when she will be in front of the public again, just bear with us.seeker33 wrote:Is there any chance of XR728 taking part on the day? What's the latest with the jet?
Cheers
We have for the last 3 years been working slowly through her No1 engine and reheat issues, which we have recently made positive progress with.
No2 engine out soon to begin getting to grips with the engine and reheat system issues.
Dont forget this is all done by a small band of guys who are only working one day per week.
Shes a Lightning, they are not to be rushed
Keep coming to our events and supporting us, you will see 728 run again one day

Come and find me on the 26th and I will give you an idea of just how much effort all this takes
Cheers

Hi Andy, really glad to hear that you are making steady progress with 728, i came to the first open day not long after you received her in 1988, i was like a dog with two c0cks being able to get so close to a 'live' Lightning!
I look forward to seeing her tearing down Brunty's runway once again... one day!

Sadly won't be there as it clashes with Little Gransden. Are there plans for any more Brunty events in 2012?

Re: Bruntingthorpe CWJs Day 26th Aug 2012
Really looking forward to this, it'll be the first time I've been to CWJ.
Are there any areas that are better for photography than others? Is it possible to look around the other stuff parked up in other areas of the airfield? Do I need to get there early for a good view?
Advice appreciated, thanks

Re: Bruntingthorpe CWJs Day 26th Aug 2012
Depends on what type of photos you want. The right hand side of the display line seems most popular, probably to capture start ups and the Lightning's reheat.
The left hand side of the line is less packed. A lot of the aircraft do their high speed run and then taxi around almost behind you allowing for a different perspective.
Most areas of the airfield are accessible too, but not the extreme areas where the VC-10's are being broken up.
As for arrival time, I'd advise as early as possible.
Hope all that helps?

They were visible in the distance only last time I went, sorry. Not sure if anything has changed since.
Re: Bruntingthorpe CWJs Day 26th Aug 2012
I know there's another thread on the day somewhere but I'll be budgied if I can find it...........
edit - found it but as it is a continuation of a previous event I'll not merge it.
Any other Fighter Controllers attending on Sunday?

Agreed, forecast looks a bit "iffy". On the plus side it might be nice to get some "spray" shots..........

Re: Bruntingthorpe CWJs Day 26th Aug 2012
Latest from Met Office is sunny intervals, potential for some good shots.

Huge queues for the five or six toilets! And the food shack has a further queue of about sixty people.
