I've heard it from two people now, and apparently it's widely known info on the base...
Is this just a base rumour gone mad, or is there something to it?

I think she was mainly at Waddington (and another base I can't remember the name of).Unknown74 wrote:If Wittering is an ex-V-Bomber Force anyway then it would make sense for the Mighty 558 to be based at Wittering. Was she ever based there when it was a V-Base?
To the scrap heap, so people can get their wasted money back?MacksAviation wrote:It has been very quite on 558 front this winter not that I've been paying much attention as personally I think its about time she found a permanent home to finally retire and remain grounded
No Reason for it not to go there either.Unknown74 wrote:This is only a suggestion but If they could afford it and I'm aware it's run by volunteers how about "basing" XH558 at Elvington?

She was also at Finningley (Now Doncaster/Sheffield Airport).atech wrote:cosmosboy wrote:I think she was mainly at Waddington (and another base I can't remember the name of).Unknown74 wrote:If Wittering is an ex-V-Bomber Force anyway then it would make sense for the Mighty 558 to be based at Wittering. Try Scampton, where she spent most of her life long before going to Waddington.

Try the 'Engineering' section on the official website. There's a thread dedicated to the ongoing winter service and it's currently updated almost daily by the engineers.cosmosboy wrote:Since it moved to Lyneham, the regular engineering updates have pretty much ceased. So there's limited information about airworthyness, other than a few occasional bits posted of their Facebook page.
Cosford Air Show has apparently booked it, but the Vulcan team aren't saying so.
