Vostok exercise

Post by 22A » Sun Sep 16, 2018 9:22 am

This large exercise was, we were told, involving troops from China and Russia.
Today is the fourth day and Russia Today (Sky 511) has shown some footage. Air and Naval forces have also taken part. In this morning's news programme they showed Sukhois bombing a target, then Hinds flying top cover as landing ships disgorge self propelled guns and APCs onto the beach.
On that link to Maverick's new ride, scroll down to September 13th, there's some footage there of bombing activity.
Surprisingly, Mongolia's armed forced have also taken part. I thought if Mongolia ever goes to war it will be against, not with China or Russia.
Russia has announced that as this exercise is so large involving great cost and effort it will not be an annual event.
With the amount of live firing going on it gives front line troops battle experience and higher command gains large scale Command & Control experience.
Here's a link to the live firing shown on Russia Today. Despite that, the Sun has put it's logo in the corner.
