Re: F-35A Mishap
Knee-jerk reaction, to kick the dog with a bad name. With so little information, and so many possible causes / contributory factors, the there's little point speculating. Certainly, there's nothing to suggest that any specific issue with the aircraft type is involved.
Re: F-35A Mishap
Why not discuss it? Is the F-35 some sort of sacred cow?

Seahornet1, you must remember that specific members of this forum have far more knowledge about the F-35 and parts thereof, than the companies who designed and manufacture the jet, and the military who operate it.

Re: F-35A Mishap
I know sweet FA about the F-35, which is why I didn't offer any comments on the incident. I just don't understand the need to immediately shut down any discussion of it.Please do; what do you know...?
I don't know if that's aimed at me Chris, but that's not how I behave on forums.Seahornet1, you must remember that specific members of this forum have far more knowledge about the F-35 and parts thereof, than the companies who designed and manufacture the jet, and the military who operate it.

Gamecock - not specifically at anyone at all. We just seem to have a number of armchair experts who know more about the F-35 than the actual experts.
Re: F-35A Mishap
wonder what the in-flight emergency was..

Won't happen to us we have the boat version - the undercarriage will be built like tree trunks

Re: F-35A Mishap
The report indicates that the nose gear 'collapsed' after the aircraft had parked up. That sounds like a system failure or accidental retraction rather than a mechanical failure, so the physical strength of the undercarriage is probably not a factor.
Oh, regarding my earlier comment that "there's little point speculating...", I'd just like to point out that I always reserve the right to disagree with myself....
Re: F-35A Mishap
There's idle speculation, or informed debate (analysing the facts and proposing a sensible discussion point). Yours does err towards the latter...... although I disagree with your right to disagree with yourself...........Seahornet1 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 28, 2018 2:39 pmThe report indicates that the nose gear 'collapsed' after the aircraft had parked up.
