French Air Force retires the Mirage 2000N

Post by Ghost from above » Sun Jun 24, 2018 9:00 am

The French Air Force retired its Mirage 2000N nuclear strike fighter-bomber at Le Tubé Air Base on Jun. 21 after 30 years of service

Still love the powerful shape of this aircraft

Done with style and aplomb, but I'd rather hear jet noise than music!!

Great but what's going to happen to the retired aircraft.I mean it's designed for nuclear delivery. Does't that educe the potential buyers?

Chateaudun followed by the scrapyard. Hopefully some are kept for preservation...

Probably stripped for parts for the 2000C and D versions.

There was a post on one of the squadrons Facebook pages the other day, showing the special scheme Ramex Delta jet being prepped for preservation or that's how the translation was worded. Can't remember or find which page it was on now

They have already had 2000Ns in Chateaudun for a few yrs, some have gone for use as instructional airframes etc.

I believe some may already have been spares recovered and scrapped
