ATC Summer Camp - West Raynham 1974

Post by andrewclark » Tue Jun 12, 2018 7:34 pm

Hi. Newbie here, trying to find out which two Chipmunks were used to give Air Cadets (including me!) air experience flights in August 1974. Any help welcomed. Thanks, Andrew

Serials should be logged in your F3822, if you've still got it.

My first annual camp was at West Raynham the year after, I got a flight in a 100 Sqn Canberra B2. What Squadron were you in? my brother was there that year as CI with 1921 Sqn.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Slightly off topic, but.

I remember going to Motorcycle Races at West Raynham in the late Seventies.
I remember the catering being particularly good.
Also.
The Air Defence Radar Museum at Neatishead has some info on West Raynham, including a scale model of the base and a Bloodhound Missile with all the kit (not a scale model).
They might have the info you want.
The museum is definitely worth a look if you’re in the area.
I did once get to tour the active bunker, it’s all very James Bond Down there !
