Exercise Max Thunder

Post by welshandy » Tue May 15, 2018 7:54 pm

the annual Exercise Max Thunder in South Korea with Some 100 warplanes, including an unspecified number of B-52 bombers and F-15K jets began on Friday. Has made the North return to their usual rhetoric "The North's official KCNA news agency said the exercises between the US and the South were a provocation" & cancelled talks with the South.

Not really a surprise that its made the North threaten to pull out of the US summit and cancelled todays North/South talks.

The US really are too gung-ho and need to learn to pipe down/be more mindful at times like this. The right thing to do in these unique circumstances would have been, for example, to maybe make a timely public statement by say halving the number of involved assets and toning it all down a bit.. or, I don't know, maybe not calling it MAX THUNDER.

Its that whole shouty world police attitude akin to the 'the Raptorrrr will dominate everything on the battlefield' (in daft aggressive airshow demo commentary voice) that gets them such a laughable reputation and in so much trouble every where they go.

It could all be very different if a little reflective thought was put in at points like this, but never mind, lets just kick the gaaad daaamn door off its hinges instead when it was maybe on the way to being repaired.

That's that off my chest ;)

I have to agree with the two above. Sometime the back slapping, high fiving, whooping, "dick-waving" attitude to such foreign affairs and military matters in general, to me at least, is just not what is needed... and sadly appears to have proliferated under the current regime.

Some sensitivity to the situation would pay dividends in the long term relationships being established here. Surely that should be the objective.

Agree with all the above. Have just returned from 'the finest country in the world' according to them, and conservative approaches to ANYTHING simply isn't in their make up.Being the world's policeman is all very well, but it does no good to be so aggressive.!!.

Trump and his office may be visibly loud, but they are definitely asleep on the job.

:grr:
The word Thunderbox seems to fit into this discussion. We can knock the Yanks but should only due it from a distance. They are both bigger than us and there are more of them. Plus, I do not speak either Chinese nor Russian. My understanding of German is also very limited.
