US Harriers

Post by herc15 » Sun Mar 18, 2018 6:54 pm

What is the chance of the US sending over some of their harriers on Deployment? Would dearly love to see one as i have only began to taken an interest in military aviation recently and therefore missed seeing one fly...

Very rare for USMC aircraft to deploy to the UK.

I’m fairly sure the last time any USMC AV-8’s we’re deployed to the UK would have been the early to mid 80’s. I would say the only chance of seeing them now would be if one of the LHA or LHD boats was to visit Portsmouth, wth them embarked. Best bet would be either Italian or Spanish jets visiting for an air show.

It's been rare for the Italians or Spanish to visit the Uk. There were a couple at RIAT in recent years, but that's about it.

Best bet if you want to see them would be a trip to Spain or Italy

Your best bet would be to go to the US of A - lots US Harriers there, and you don't need to speak a foreign language to get around. Of course they drive on the wrong side, but that's the case in Spain and Italy too!
