Hi buddy :P

This hurts coming from an old Yuppy Luddite, through and through

I would go for the UBC125XLT every time

Several of our 'Reapers' have one and are more than pleased with them :thumb:

Can't help you with the programming though ;)

Hope this helps a b-I-t

Whatever you choose: happy listening

Thank you, nearly put a bid for the Alinco on eBay last week, sold for £157.00 still with warranty. Looks like bearcat more popular tho.

I was also advised and purchased the 125 .. get an uprated "super-gainer" aerial as well ..
Very Easy to Program (I didn't have to ask my 7yr old to show me) and easy to use .. just make sure You carry plenty of Batterries, Mine died after 7hrs switched on

I agree with everything other members have said, the 125 is brilliant value and easier to use than some scanners i have used,i would rig up an external aerial though if you haven't already a this will improve reception no end, there are however gaps in the frequencies it can recieve but these are in areas where you don't hear a lot anyway and you will be able to hear civil and military airband and also marine band if you're near the coast, anyway happy hunting!.Mark.

Icom R6 is compact and convent. ...... once you have programmed the thing with the frequencies and assigned them to frequency banks. This is a massive ball ache as there is no numeric keypad. To say its fiddly and laborious is an understatement.

Any comments on the Alinco Dj-X11 ? (one on eBay £120ish) and Radioworlds pre-programmed ubc 125 xlt (264 civil & 190 military) £ 150 as I run a Mac.

Definitely 125 I bought one and I love it, fantastic value for money. I would definitely invest in a better aerial than the one it comes with, I picked up two that are fantastic, one long range and one closer range high quality, both around £15 and the results are brilliant.

If you use windows there is a great program you can download to program the channels/banks too.

As the other chaps say, 125, I have one and am extremely pleased with it, live close to both Mildenhall and Lakenheath and am spoilt for choice on what to scan !
Can I suggest you look into downloading the excellent free program, Scan 125? it makes programming a breeze, offers many functions to 125 owners.
Enjoy ........

I have a DJ- X11 - love it - independent dual vfo - monitor two frequencies simultaneously

£120 is a bit suspicious as they are about £300 new

I don't get the pre-programming of the 125 by Radioworld, how likely is it will be relevant to the area you live and your listening preferences ?

agreed .. more than likely the freqs programmed won't be any good to you ...
IF you go for the 125 .. get an unprogrammed one, they're easy to program and plenty of us can pass freqs you know you'll utilise
