XX162 is one of the RAFCAM jets (XX327 the other) and is MOD owned, although operated by QinetiQ

DA42 Twin Star QQ103 was registered as G-ETPM on 20/09/18. Avro RJ100 QQ101 has it's previous registration G-BZAY listed as "restoration to the UK Register". Information as per the G Info website.

Thanks for your interesting comments.
Reference the Avro RJ100 QQ101 (c/n E3368):-
Registration G-BZAY was cancelled on 3 October 2012 as a/c to MoD - however there is an 'open aircraft registration case' dated 18-Jul-2018 and an 'open applications and approvals case' dated 20-Jul-2018, but with an expected date of processing of 20-Sep-2018. so may not yet be a done deal. In fact, there is talk of Avro RJ100 c/n E3368 being re-registered G-ETPL, but as of today no record of this on the G-INFO web site.
It will be interesting to see what civil registration replaces the QQ101 serial.

According to the company representatives at RIAT, they operate on the civilian register as they no longer just train MOD staff. Operating on the civilian register makes it easier for them to obtain business from the civilian market, which is what they intend to do. This is why you have a wider range of aircraft available to ETPS such as the BAe 146’s!

I have also heard it is to be re-registered as G-ETPL. The restoration to the UK Register has a review date of 3 Oct 2018. Like you say interesting to see which registration replaces QQ101. Presumably the Avro RJ70 QQ102 will also be re-registered (this only became QQ102 on 29 June 2017).

Slight bit of spin as they have offered civillian courses for a number of years.

There was an article in Aviation Week about them reforming the school to align with EASA standards amnd offer more commercial courses

Intrestingly, there was a very similar article in Flight - in 2011!!

Since the infamous report of the Afghanistan Nimrod crash and the setting up of the MAA, the latter have been seen to be very overbearing. On a visit to Chalgrove, they wanted more personnel than M-B employ there just to get a Meteor out of the hangar. So M-B got Permit to Fly from the CAA and now the Meteors are civil registered. I can only assume that Qinetiq, for similar reasons, find it easier to operate under CAA rules.

The Nimrod crash was NOT infamous please amend your comment, it was the Crash Report that became infamous which you quite rightly say got the MAA set up. The issue with the report was that it named names, which had never been done before. The MAA although a logical step forward has been its own worst enemy, almost certainly because those running it became virtually completely Risk Averse so they wouldnt be named in any future reports, the classic case was RC-135 Rivet Joint ZZ664 which sat at Waddington for many months after being delivered due to the MAA (or more probably those in charge) refusing to sign off the Risk Case for the airframe due to lack of Boeing Records of its previous lives.

ukserials.com has the following registrations for the rest of the fleet:

G-ETPI - A109E Power Elite (QQ100)
G-ETPJ- A109E Power Elite (ZE416)
G-ETPK- Avro RJ70 (QQ102)

These are undergoing maintenance and will receive the new registrations once they have been repainted.

The ETPS Airbus Helicopters H125 Fleet will enter service / delivered in the first quarter of this year. I was at the ceremony at the Airbus Chalet on day 2 of Farnborough, when Airbus H125 G-ETPG was handed over to Qinetiq.

They have to be role equipped fitted with telemetry equipment, downlink amongst other mission sepcific avionics for the test pilot training .

Cheers and Happy New Year
