Washington, D.C. — The Royal Netherlands Air Force is cleared by the U.S. State Department to buy 28 remanufactured Boeing AH-64E helicopters worth a total of $1.19 billion, the U.S. government announced on 20 February.
The deal calls for remanufacturing the RNLAF’s 28 AH-64D airframes to the Echo-model standard.
The AH-64E includes the more powerful GE Aviation T700-GE-701D engine with a face gear transmission. The RNLAF would receive 51 -701D engines if the deal is confirmed, including nine spares, the State Department says.
Other items included under the deal are 17 APG-78 fire-control radars, 28 modernised target-acquisition and designation sights (MTADS) with modernised pilot night-vision sensors (PNVS).
