USAF UFOs

Post by 22A » Sun Dec 17, 2017 4:17 pm

Announced on BBC News today that from 2007 to 2012 USAF spent $22 million / year investigating UFOs.
Are UFOs discussed on this forum, or if "We come in peace Earthling", are they considered as civilian flights?

Probably best talking about this subject in ‘general discussion’?

As happened throughout the Cold War, UK/USA/NATO/USSR monitored reports of "UFOS" on the off chance that it was indicticative of an enemy approaching their airspace. (or, in some special cases, to see if anyone had observed their own aircraft in passing).

Most of them will be meteorological or astronomical in nature (in addition to the crackpots) but occasionally there might be a aeronautical source that could be worth investigating further.

I seem to remember a program a couple of years ago about UFO's & that an object over the UK was tracked by an LN Eagle.

I remember that - very strong winds at the time. Possibly ground debris sucked up in turbulence which took a while to return to earth. Once saw a piece of corrugated tin roofing being lifted skyward and disappearing into the distance - something like that would show up well on an F-15 radar.

Subtle reference to the C-23 Sherpas and their callsigns?

How come the ship could track the object on its radar but the jets couldn't ? Doesn't make sense.

I once watched one of these things float off into the sky... A solar baloon! Things like this could explain some of the cigar shaped UFOs that people see.

And there's plenty more where that came from!
