Still very much alive and chatty I met " Stocky " and his wife over this weekend at two RCAFA memorial ceremonies.
Fascinating to listen to his stories, he took over a Wing based at Hornchurch from Johnie Johnson. Here are some details of his career

I showed him some of my images (Flickr) of the Spitfire with the Typhoon in trail. Obviously still keen about aircraft, I managed to answer most of his questions about the New Typhoon before he went on to tell me about his Tempest flying against the V1.
All to short a time with him
Lovely bloke. He lives down at Comox, still involved with the Airforce; http://www.888wingrcaf.com/contact-information.html
It was a privilege to meet him.
