USS HW BUSH Aircraft Carrier and Exercise Saxon Warrior

Post by Aircraftpaulcornwall » Thu Jul 27, 2017 7:06 pm

This massive U.S. Aircraft Carrier is soon expected to be involved in the upcoming 'live' joint Forces NATO exercise.
"Exercise Saxon Warrior" is due to start next Monday 31st July 2017, and is due to last for 2 weeks.
(I am personally hoping that there could be some fixed wing/helo involvement in this - perhaps over/near to Cornwall!)

Here is the website that explains it all!

What does the map show? I have just had a look and can see the inter looping rings and symbols, is it in relation to the exercise and showing areas affected?

I thought the SW was also included? the chart above shows circles including these regions (if they are related of course)?

The orange tanker, MV Mozart, that is alongside Bush is down to leave the ship at 1200 on Tuesday, low water is 1205 so departure should be shortly after that.

Hi C24,
Thanks for that - by the NOTAM it certainly looks as though most of it is going to
centred around Scotland and associated waters.
The weather looks decidedly poor in that area next week, strengthening S-SW winds and a fair bit of rain, but the second week may be somewhat better!
As Cornish-guy said, we may see a little action down in this neck of the woods, but I somehow doubt it! -Paul

There are 5 CVOAs. CVOA 1 is out to the west of the Bristol Channel where the ship will work up before heading north. CVOA 2 is in the D701 complex, west of the Outer Isles while 3 is north of Cape Wrath Range. 5 and 6 are in the North Sea. Each will be activated in turn by NOTAM.
