Update on this.

Letter of Acceptance was signed on the 21st December, which states that a total of 70 OH-58D's will be purchased with 36 being in fully operational condition, these will go to form up to 3 new aviation squadrons covering the Aegean Islands(at a guess Lesbos and Rhodes), 10 more air frames will form a training squadron probably at Stefanovikeio, with the remaining 24 being utilised for spares. No mention of when deliveries will commence.

Thunder, thanks for this. What leads you to guess those islands? Rhodos is a little far south to be in the Aegean, perhaps? Would Limnos and/or Skyros be better bets?

It's nothing but a guess based on current operations on those islands. Limnos would be another potential base for these, however the airport on the island is already used by the HAF for permanent forward basing and whether they would be willing to share would have to be seen. Rhodes already sees Army aviation assets utilising Maritsa and is routinely used for larger exercises, Lesbos has/had an Army detachment operating from the airport there. Kos would also be able to host a smaller unit, but until the Hellenic Army decide on structure it's all guess work.
