Re: RAF Typhoon fleet.
This is getting silly now.
Re: RAF Typhoon fleet.
ZK307 took part in the QBF practice just the day before fully marked up. Obviously keen to get that one stripped of its identitymilky_01 wrote:Hi Mike,

Re: RAF Typhoon fleet.
I understand what the tail codes are, but who applies them and who removes them?
I don't quite understand why they seem to change so much.

Re: RAF Typhoon fleet.
Not sure who you mean here but obviously the MOD (probably engineering based on flight hours/roles etc) approve the codes and the paint shop actually carry out the work.ChrisCwmbran wrote:...... , but who applies them and who removes them?
All aircraft are pooled these days and the modern fleet are equipped with various marks or versions of the same aircraft (Tranche 1, 2 etc) which means they have differing roles they can carry out. Airframe hours are calculated and aircraft are then assigned to a base/squadron. There is constant rotation to maintain the best possible reliability/fit for operations squadrons are tasked with.ChrisCwmbran wrote:I don't quite understand why they seem to change so much.

Re: RAF Typhoon fleet.
ZJ910/DO 11 SQN Arrived to store at Shawbury this morning(24th) as LOS 98
Re: RAF Typhoon fleet.
Possibly a stupid question, but does anyone know why these are entering storage? Something to do with fleet rotation or attrition reserves, or the fact that the trance 3's are coming on line??
Thanks in advance,
Steve.
