It must be embarrassing for whoever the Russian Ministry of Defence sends out to do those briefings. They claim that the Syrians shot down 71 cruise missiles. They did the same with the 2017 cruise missile attack on Shayrat. They claimed that only 23 of 59 struck their target. You can see it from their perspective but they do go over the score!

According to the US the Syrians were completely taken by surprise last night and only launched SAMs after the missiles had hit their targets.
McKenzie: "Syria fired 40 surface to air missiles into the air after strike on ballistic (unguided trajectory) to no effect....after the 105 US and allied missiles had already landed."
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-04- ... airstrikes

The US claimed that 57 out of 59 cruise missiles struck their intended targets on the Shayrat airbase during 2017. The Russian claimed that only 23 hit.

The reality was the satellite imagery and analysis at following link.

There appears to be a lot of confusion with the reporting of this, not a lot adds up? How can so many assets operate near Syria without anyone having a clue a strike was in operation as reported by the US? I'd assume the F-15 top cover would of been painting the whole area, looking any interceptors from height so would have been visible on radars? Just a thought? There has even been a log made by a web site of assets taken from Flight radar?

I noticed that from the Forces TV media report, the first aircraft taking off was a Typhoon?!

F35s used in the mission. I appreciate it is against ISIS rather than the Thread Title.
