I've been a member for ages, but I thought it would be nice to let everyone else who doesn't already know a bit about me.

My real name is Chris, I'm 17 and I live in Elgin, Moray (for those of you don't know where that is, it's slap-bang next to RAF Lossiemouth.) I - when I was about 4 years old - developed the passion for aviation I have right now, I just loved it all and I ended up at various shows such as RAF Leuchars and RAF Mildenhall. Unfortunately, when I went into primary school I couldn't get down as much and my interest waned.

But then, in the Summer of 2005, circumstances had it that I would be forced (you'd never think that would be the case now) down to RAF Lossiemouth one of the weeks that the Romanian MiG-21s were deployed. And because of that, my interest was sparked once again and then when Swedish JAS-39 Gripens deployed in December of the same year I made it clear that I wanted to get a camera and begin my aviation passion once again through a different view. And so, I took up aviation photography.

At Christmas, I inherited an Olympus C730Z Ultrashot camera and used it for most of a year before progressing to a Panasonic Lumix FZ7 by September 2006 in time for the Leuchars Airshow of that year. But I was unhappy with the quality of bridge cameras and ended up upgrading once again, this time to a Nikon D50 DSLR in May 2007 - and that is how it stayed till January 2010 when I got my Nikon D90 and began to take interest in most arty-farty shots which began to see me gaining recognition.

I have been fortunate to meet so many fantastic members of this forum, and other forums indeed. And I'm privileged to be a part of the moderating team here at Fighter Control..

And here, is a picture of me.

hi peeps!

i may have just sent a message to the wrong forum so forgive a fighter controll virgin!

i have been an aviation nut since circa 1960, my first air display at colt with the 'frightning'. my brother worked on them at colt, tengah, akrotiri, wattisham, binbrook, etc before moving onto victors at wyton and honington, finishing on buccs at honington, so you can see the fetish has been maintained!

i am lucky to live within a half mile of norwich airport and have an understanding wife, so the trusty ol' yuppy mvt9000 and uni 3500xlt keep me company; as i have cupboards full of slides from the years, the other 'alf has banned any more photo work, som i just drool wit envy at the fantastic shots you all post

NEVER get tired of looking at them, so please keep it up, and if you do venture down quaker lane on 027 at norwich, give postman pat a shout and have a natter

best regards all

That was at Leuchars Airshow 2010, so I had a fair enough reason for looking so happy! Even if it felt like a big game of stuck in the mud at times!

Welcome everybody!

Hi,

I just be chance came across the Forum and must say I am loving it. I am located down in Devon near Lyme Bay area. Not the most active area maybe for military, but a few appear in Exeter and Newquay airports.
