My real name is Chris, I'm 17 and I live in Elgin, Moray (for those of you don't know where that is, it's slap-bang next to RAF Lossiemouth.) I - when I was about 4 years old - developed the passion for aviation I have right now, I just loved it all and I ended up at various shows such as RAF Leuchars and RAF Mildenhall. Unfortunately, when I went into primary school I couldn't get down as much and my interest waned.
But then, in the Summer of 2005, circumstances had it that I would be forced (you'd never think that would be the case now) down to RAF Lossiemouth one of the weeks that the Romanian MiG-21s were deployed. And because of that, my interest was sparked once again and then when Swedish JAS-39 Gripens deployed in December of the same year I made it clear that I wanted to get a camera and begin my aviation passion once again through a different view. And so, I took up aviation photography.
At Christmas, I inherited an Olympus C730Z Ultrashot camera and used it for most of a year before progressing to a Panasonic Lumix FZ7 by September 2006 in time for the Leuchars Airshow of that year. But I was unhappy with the quality of bridge cameras and ended up upgrading once again, this time to a Nikon D50 DSLR in May 2007 - and that is how it stayed till January 2010 when I got my Nikon D90 and began to take interest in most arty-farty shots which began to see me gaining recognition.
I have been fortunate to meet so many fantastic members of this forum, and other forums indeed. And I'm privileged to be a part of the moderating team here at Fighter Control..
And here, is a picture of me.
