Mavericks new ride...
Re: Mavericks new ride...
Couldn't disagree more! Looks like something Starsky & Hutch might fly. Makes Disney Pixar's Planes look quality.

I think it's just an edit a random person has done for some fun and not connected to the movie. Could be wrong though.

Definitely legitimate. Looks sleek and smart, nice one. Shame it's been delayed, but should be good nonetheless.
Re: Mavericks new ride...
Apparently the film has been delayed so that Tom Cruise can actually learn to fly the jet.....

Not quite: The extra time will give filmmakers the opportunity to work out the logistics of presenting flight sequences with new technology and planes, according to a Paramount statement.
I'd be cool with him having the time to learn to fly it, rather that than some CGI crap

Re: Mavericks new ride...
Close!....but not 100%. Has to do the official training to 'walk the walk & talk the talk' without portraying the USN in a negative light, by ham-fisted flouncing about!
I guess that's what the Paramount statement says, but not plainly!

Well in that case i quite like it I must say! Although wasn’t Mavericks helmet in Top Gun red, white and black?
Re: Mavericks new ride...
All aeroplanes fly the same way. Pull the stick back, the houses get smaller, push it forward, and they get bigger etc.etc. If you see subsequently see some shots of him doing some basic handling in the film, they may well be genuine, but there is no way he will be the 'handling pilot' on take-off and landing. He is no mug though. He does own and fly his own P.51 Mustang. All of us can pole an aircraft round the sky to some degree.[ I handled a Vampire T.11 amongst other types as a 16 year old ATC Cadet before learning to fly properly later in life] The awkward bits are MUCH more difficult in a high performance aircraft. He will pole it, but he won't be qualified to properly fly it. It's a two-seater in any case, and there will certainly be an instructor in the back to do the clever bits.
