Heck, the very one I'm missing is the Typhoons on Friday, previous engagement, but glad the Tornado GR.4s are tomorrow night, may be the last GR.4s I'll see flying.

Brilliant - thanks for sharing. A previous post mentioned 2 Hawks on 14/8. Wonder if they will be on 16/8 instead

You may have as you say just seen Tornado GR.4s over Edinburgh for the final time which is a very sad thought.

Anybody know the IDs of the aircraft? Also trying to find out which Marham Squadron they were from?

As I say I’ll miss the Typhoons on Friday unfortunately but hope to see the remaining Flypasts if I can.

Cheerz for that Slogen51, I went investigating on the Marham section and actually found the info there but thanks for helping anyway.

Did the Typhoons turn up? I'm either going deaf and blind or were they "stealth" Typhoons?

They did indeed, I saw them from Lothian Road at bang on 2100...conveniently between pubs.

Very quiet though, not like the recent Singapore display someone shared on Facebook. Full reheat as they approached the crowd.

Now would love to view the Flypast from outside the Usher Hall opposite the Sheraton Hotel, Lothian Road.

Was out near Kirknewton last night and heard the Typhoons when they were 5 miles North of the Forth Bridges - confirmed by pilot on scanner.

Don't think reheat is allowed on flypasts now - someone complained about the noise a couple of years back. :grr:

Think it was Edinburgh Zoo who complained. Think one of the Zebras got spooked or something.

The zoo complained in 2010, was interrupting the Penguin's getting a wing over, if you know what I mean.....

That saw flypasts restricted to one aircraft.

More recently, it was Portabello residents.

Whether it was zebras or penguins it was certainly a black and white situation. Further to the Portobello residents complaints, my son used to live there and reckoned the aircraft lined up on his flat for the approach to the castle. He got some terrible frights some evenings from low, fast flying jets. He didn't complain but felt advance warning wouldn't have gone amiss. Are there reasons for not alerting the general public? More people would perhaps enjoy the flypast and feel less inclined to object.
