Did anyone actually see the Typhoon performing the FLYPAST? Heard it but never saw it due to the horrid low cloud, both nights this Year due Jets have been dreadful weatherwise

Why would they perform a flypast if the cloud base or weather was so poor ?
I can see at least 5k from here in Elgin.

So it must be me then, I must be in the only area which had an area of low cloud last night. Guess the Castle was bathed in Sunshine but the cloud in my area was low. Still totally gutted not to see the Typhoons.

If it's of any use or relevance, the 2 Typhoons that performed the flypast on Friday were slightly to the Left of the Tattoo Arena. No visibility problems overhead the Castle, but by being on a slightly different track, might explain why you didn't see them?Unknown74 wrote:Did anyone actually see the Typhoon performing the FLYPAST? And I thought it was due to the Weather. That explains it then cheers. Just hope I manage to see the C-17 .................

What type of scanner do you have? If you have the 3500XLT (or similar) switch on the Close Call feature and you may be able to pick up the SATCO who will be on duty - I don't have the frequency, sorry. He's in touch with the aircraft and you will hear the countdown and possibly the inbound direction.Unknown74 wrote:And I thought it was due to the Weather. That explains it then cheers. Other than that, get yourself up Calton Hill or Arthur's Seat and you won't miss them - they won't fly in cloud but don't quote me on that!
