EAP inbound

Post by CH2 » Tue Mar 27, 2012 5:34 pm

Was seen heading up the M6 today, so I guess should have arrived or be arriving soon.
Cheers,

Chris

Best place for her, should be on show for the public. I saw all the taxi trials and flight tests, pitty she could'nt be put in to production ( much cheaper option ).

I spent the day at RAF Cosford today and they have the space awaiting the EAP in the museums test hangar. :thumb:

EAP -She's currently under a sheet inside the MB recon centre.

The Nimrod is waiting until the end of May and the same team who dismantled her, before any reassembly work starts on her.

Just like to say here that Cosford want to improve on the cream scones! The one I had last Friday was crap!

As of Thursday AM, EAP is still positioned inside the doors of the MBRC.
It is apparently awaiting certain pieces of paperwork to be generated to allow it to be put on show.
The problem lies with its original owner and another, across the pond! They are preventing the museum moving it into place.
They say "It still as the potential to deliver ordnance". They ought to go and look at it, it's got no engines!!
This paperwork was not issued when it went to Loughborough, when it should have been.

Lets hope someone in the know can email a copy to Cosford so they can push it into position for the show tomorrow.

"It still as the potential to deliver ordnance"

Really, in all my years of seeing her she only had dummy Skyflash & Amraam fitted?

Yep, that's what was said.

I'm pretty sure that EAP wasn't even piped/wired for weapons release, it was just for flight trials to prove the flying characteristics of the airframe.

DA2 & 4 must have had the relevant paperwork for their acceptance for display.
It's probably just an oversight by BAe, when it was first released to Loughborough, but it's a shame it's taking so long!

That is ill-informed and quite unfair.

A whole new set of (US) regulations have been put in place since then.
People are trying very hard agaisnst a complex set of rules to make this happen
(it was also true of the Hawk move to Loughborough !)

Are you are making reference to my post or the one I quoted ??
What have the US regulations got to do with the EAP ? unless it falls under ITAR for some unknown reason? please inform me.
I'm sure people are working very hard to make it happen (good luck to all of them). :thumb:
I know exactly what it means to work for BAE & it's culture..........
I wont say anything else for fear of breaching the official secrets act ;)

Yes, it's the dreaded ITAR....

It affects all aspects of work nowadays - even some of the "everyday" equipment used on our old aeroplanes has to be covered by the regulations controlling storage & handling, access, paperwork etc. (mainly where smaller UK companies have been taken over by US giants) - thank heavens I'm not a "stacker" !

I'm just fed up with people having a dig when there are people doing their very very best.
