Re: ADS B EXCHANGE USN E6 over mid cornwall now
Hex code [249249] is one of those "volatile" codes and is used by a lot of aircraft of different types and countries. The binary equivalent is 001001001001001001001001 (octal is 11111111)- which as you can see is a "lazy" input.
The trouble is that a USN E-6 has used this code in the past and it has become entered on databases, thus giving a false impression as to what the aircraft really is.
One of our RN Sea Kings uses this hex code - I can't remember which one. However Merlins and Typhoons have also used it.

I am VERY new to this kind of tracking etc and really don't understand what it all means - but thanks for clearing that up :-)

Hi from breezy mid-Cornwall.. Only aircraft seen this morning: C-130J routing east at 2000 ft or so and a Twin Otter.. I'll keep looking !

Saw this too but track, altitude and airspeed suggest this was a helo.

Seaking XV671 has been known to use 249249, as well as a few other USAF types.
Re: ADS B EXCHANGE USN E6 over mid cornwall now
Not sure if it's XV671 (quite a few of 849's aircraft have used it), but it's certainly a Sea King ASaC.7.

Any particular reason why you've brought a thread back that was last posted in 5 months ago?
