Re: A400 Atlas spotted
Many local people still refer to Newquay airport as St Mawgan.
Seems that many people want to study so called rules and regulations rather than enjoy spotting and reporting aircraft.
Had enough of this bye bye folks.......

He seems to specialise in it; yet why do the moderators do nothing about that??Seafire 47 wrote:There goes another one Mike, good job!

Mike wrote:This is why so many SW members left the forum, this should have been posted in the "Heads up/OTT" section.
This section is for airfield movements in the SW, not for aircraft flying over the area.
It was a local movement posted in the correct section. ..
so your problem is??? :whistle:it wasn't flying in the over head... its landed on the runway..it's wheels rolled down the tarmac surface a short distance before it lifted of again.. this MUST there for qualifies as a movement at Newquay ( or st mawgan as some still see it as) Does it not?!!
Re: A400 Atlas spotted
Get a life Mike, it's a hobby, it should be fun, not an anal exercise in pedantry. I never look at OTT, I safely assume something is flying OTT of somewhere at some point, it's less relevant, now to see what types are visiting what airfields in which area, now that is interesting.

Good question,I suspect our only answer will be a locked thread and a reprimand for everyone except the culprit. The Phantom wrote:He seems to specialise in it; yet why do the moderators do nothing about that??Seafire 47 wrote:There goes another one Mike, good job!

We'd. 04 Feb.Atlas overflew Wells, SE to NW accompanied by a "fighter" poss Typhoon.Local Spotter wrote:A400 Atlas spotted circuiting St Mawgan at approx 1300 hrs. Left after a low flypast and headed north east, Based at Brize I think.
Re: A400 Atlas spotted
RAF St Mawgan still exists in a big way and the RAF still fly regularly in and out and round and round but does not have a sub forum yet Lynham does

Re: A400 Atlas spotted
As far as i'm concerned, i see no issue with this post. As i've said in the past, this section is designed for airfield logs, serial tie ups etc. The original post was clear that the aircraft 'had' been in the circuit and had already departed. The following post provided a serial tie up as well. So, all in all, an example of a movement log - exactly what this section is designed for.
Had the original post stated 'A400 in the circut talking to tower on 123.456' followed by continual updates on what it was doing i.e. live monitoring of the aircraft, then that should have been in the Heads Up/OTT - but it wasn't so it shouldn't be.
If people have an issue with a post or thread and think its in the wrong section, then use the 'report post' button rather than posting in the thread. The moderators will then make the decision if the post is in the correct section or not.
n.b. for any pedants out there, i know 123.456 isn't a correct freq!

Re: A400 Atlas spotted
All valid opinions above but the original post was not a log and if the second poster had not confirmed then there would have been no tie-up. It would therefore appear that as long as all the boxes are ticked somewhere along the thread then it becomes valid which in turn means the original post wasn't. Each to their own I suppose.

Re: A400 Atlas spotted
But isn't that what forums are about ? Sharing of information that is available and, if others have information to help improve on that then even better. There are no defined rules on what constitutes a log and the info posted clearly logs a historical movement at the base. For me, its fine as it is but other may not agree - each to their own as you say!

So. .I'll end this one with this....Mike wrote:This is why so many SW members left the forum, this should have been posted in the "Heads up/OTT" section.

Quote by Thunder in reply to my post in the mess regarding my question about this post .
So because he contributes more than I or others have with in the forum. . We all have to respect his views?!!No Mike isn't a moderator, but he is a highly respected member on here by most and since he is the person that you have the issue with regards the so called "problem", maybe it would've been easier and quicker to contact him and ask for his view instead of starting another thread about something that you had your answer to last night. Most of the time these stupid petty misunderstandings/arguments can be sorted out without the need for pointless threads and the need of the moderators, who have enough to do without this kind of tosh.
As EGCC says "move on"
And are not intitled to our own veiws?!!
You state he's a respected member of the forum? ? That he might be by some? ( but not everyone judging by the PM's I have received! ) but does that give him the right to police post that he feels are in the wrong section? ?
As has been said many times before.. if you don't like the contents of the post..DON'T READ THEM! And move on to the next post these were his own words!:@
Now I can see why so many people have left the forum. . Friendly forum? ? It would seem that only if your face fits!
