Thanks Ian, for the heads up on the exercise. I would be there like a shot normally, but I'm away. For anybody wishing to go, Shell Island campsite will give you an excellent view of airfield "events".

Little ahead of the game there! Exercise starts on the 8th. Typhoon just doing GH in the local area.

Right, he specifically said it was CAS work, which made me think it was connected in some way...

I was there until 5pm but didnt see anything, although the Army build up is gaining pace with tracked rocket launchers turning up this afternoon for the defence of the airfield against the fast jet attacks next week, also there may be CV 22 participation, the USMC plus other nationalities are on site.
