Re: CANON powershot SX-430
hello blackcat1, just to put it bluntly, there are better cameras out there. I dont want to put you off but it may be better looking at something more like the Nikon b700, or the Panasonic fz300.

Re: CANON powershot SX-430
You could check out Panasonic M4/3 cameras. Should be able to get a nice set up for similar price if you don't mind 2nd hand.
MISSING - x1 Air Force.
If found please return to the UK.

Re: CANON powershot SX-430
I think you would be better of getting the Panasonic fz82. it will save you a lot of time because it would mean that you wouldn't have to learn how to use the sony system. what PR9 said was good. i decided to go m4/3 over dslr. you will gr much better image quality with the m4/3 over the fz82. i currently own the panaosnic G7 with a 100-300mm lens (wich is actully 200-600mm due to the 2x crop factor)

Hi Blackcat
Re: Cybershot DSCH-400.
I have had one for about a year. Possibly biggest mistake regarding camera choice I ever made, definitely would avoid now. While reasonable for static shots I have found it pretty awful for moving aircraft. The speed is so slow - over 1sec per frame; make continuous shooting of moving target pretty much impossible. Focusing can be hit and miss (he said politely) I have tried all the various modes and focusing zone options and more often than not end up with out of focus shots. Having completely missed the puma/chinook at the QBF I switched to my little pocket canon sureshot for the rest of fly past. Even when shooting static images; especially long-range or zoomed to the high end and against bright backgrounds it can take 2 or 3 attempts before the camera actually acquires a focus and even then it often looks a little soft. Images can be a little noisy as well.
If you search the web you will find people with similar 'gripes' but you'll also find lots of 5* reviews. Just relying my experience for your consideration, you're milage may vary.
