Where do you buy your SD cards?
Where do you buy your SD cards?
Looking for Sandisk 64 or 128GB 95Mbs SD card, where do you guys get yours from? Anywhere on the web I get them cheaper than the high street, obviously looking for genuine cards only.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Where do you buy your SD cards?
Always get mine from Amazon £34.99 for the 64GB compared to around £40on the high street. They often do deals where they drop the price by around £5-6 for a couple of hours too

Wouldn't buy them from Amazon, e-bay or the likes. To many fakes. Get mine from 7dayshop

Re: Where do you buy your SD cards?
Thanks for suggestions. In the past I've always bought mine from Amazon, but . . . . how can I determine whether they are fakes or not? Ditto for 7dayshop, or elsewhere, if I decide to go for another supplier.
Any advice/hints very welcome.

I test mine on a PC using:

Takes a while, but very good

Re: Where do you buy your SD cards?
Surely if you have to test them on a PC, then you've already bought the possible fake? Is there any physical way you can tell fake from genuine?martmpf wrote:I test mine on a PC using:

Saw the Amazon ones for sale and they come from Amazon themselves as opposed to a third party selling them through Amazon, don't think I would buy any off Ebay. Also looking at a spare LP-6E/N battery, but again it's a fakers paradise.
Re: Where do you buy your SD cards?
Why? I use the program to test on arrival, before I use it in a device where performance may matter. That way I know I can rely on it or send it back. The program also tests the speed, so you know it works OK and is the speed is what you paid for. Also works on USB flash memory sticks.
Re: Where do you buy your SD cards?
That would be ok if the company accepted returns on you saying that their goods are fakes. It's a blinking minefield it is.

Always bought from my memory.co.uk, they're based in Switzerland but never ever let my down.
Re: Where do you buy your SD cards?
7 Dayshop have been very good for me over the last 16 years.
Re: Where do you buy your SD cards?
Not sure where you’ve got that from. If you buy through Amazon with Amazon as the seller they are 100% genuine. Funnily enough, 7dayshop happen to be one of the big sellers of memory cards on Amazon tooPen Pusher wrote:Wouldn't buy them from Amazon, e-bay or the likes. To many fakes. Get mine from 7dayshop

Currys sell a Duracell LP-e6 for £25.00, had one for years with no problems.Thunder wrote:Also looking at a spare LP-6E/N battery, but again it's a fakers paradise.martmpf wrote:I test mine on a PC using:

Re: Where do you buy your SD cards?
Always have bought mine from Amazon, have bought well over 6-7 different cards from them, never had a single issue.
It's simple, just check that they are genuine on the site, usually says they are from SanDisk (the seller). And if there is an issue, you can just send it back. eBay is the one to be careful of. I am dubious of other places I've personally not heard of, such as 7dayshop, but will always read into them before checking to be sure
This one was the last one I bought: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01 ... UTF8&psc=1
I got 2, and both handled around 4,000 shots of RAW pictures at RIAT without a single issue.
Hope this helps you.

Re: Where do you buy your SD cards?
Thanks James certainly does help, however you say you got roughly 4000 shots on a 32GB card shooting in RAW, is that correct, as doing the online calculations a 128Gb card shooting at 24MP in RAW will hold approx 1700?

Re: Where do you buy your SD cards?
Apologies, I just did a rough guesstimate...I had 2 of those cards....I also dumped them in the laptop throughout the weekend...apologies for the confusionThunder wrote:Thanks James certainly does help, however you say you got roughly 4000 shots on a 32GB card shooting in RAW, is that correct, as doing the online calculations a 128Gb card shooting at 24MP in RAW will hold approx 1700?
Re: Where do you buy your SD cards?
I use a 70D which is 20.2Mp and I get around 1400 images on a 64GB card, which is a couple of hundred more than the calculators say.Thunder wrote:Thanks James certainly does help, however you say you got roughly 4000 shots on a 32GB card shooting in RAW, is that correct, as doing the online calculations a 128Gb card shooting at 24MP in RAW will hold approx 1700?
As a side note, that if funds permit, you are much better getting 4 32GB cards or 2 64GB cards as opposed to a single 128GB card. This way, if there is a card failure or corruption then you at least won’t lose all of your photos

7 day shop are also a big seller on ebay, and again, no issues with them. Also sourced from other ebay sellers and had no problems. Luck ? , maybe... but I do check feedback and length of time as a seller before buying.
