Best upgrade for a £1000?

Post by Tim79 » Fri Jan 20, 2017 3:28 pm

Hi guys, in your opinion what is the best Canon camera for up to £1000. Replacing my newbie Nikon d3100, although I'm still amateur I want something i can progress with for quite a number of years. Thanks very much.

So that's £1000 including lenses, as anything you have for your Nikon D3100 will need replacing too...

In the Canon range I would suggest you look for a camera that is between 18mp and 24 mp. For example the Canon 650D or the Canon 750D. Then for a start point go for the EF-S 55-250 IS STM Lens f4-f5.6 app.

However, I must say, that as you own a Nikon now, why not up grade by one or two steps in the camera body series, and increase your megapixels, thus allowing you to use your existing lenses and add further to the collection as you go along.I would spend up to 50% of the budget on the camera body and use the rest for an additional lens or lenses.

Hope that all makes sense and helps you in making your final decision.

Best Regards
John 'flightpath'.

I think the best thing to do is to ask what your current camera doesn't do that you would like to be able to to help inform your choice. Is there any reason for your change from Nikon to Canon ? As I'm sure there will be something in the Nikon body range that would suit. I'm a Canon user BTW so my knowledge of the dark side is limited

One thing I do know is that as a photographer I generally run out of talent long before I run out of camera !!
