upgrade to the Canon EF100mm - 400mm IS USM mk.2

Post by das » Wed Apr 06, 2016 4:53 pm

Hi,

I have been considering upgrading to the Mk2 version of the Canon EF100-400mm IS USM, I have the mk1. Has anybody traded theirs in and what kind of deal did you get if so? Any ideas on doing this the most cost effective way please?

Hello Ray
I've had my mk 2 for six months now, defo recommend the upgrade.
I've still got my mk 1 and will eventually put it on eBay.
Been looking at ones on there and they all seem to eventually sell.
Hopefully I'm going to be looking at the £600 mark for a sale, has it is in great nick.
To get the best price for your mk1,prob best selling it on eBay or to someone you know rather than trade in.

I bought a mk 2 for the 2015 season. I sold the mk 1 on e bay a few months ago, bought the mk 1 for £850 and sold for £670 after three years use. It was in A1 condition.

The mark 2 to is a step up in my experience and it can be push pulled if the tensioning ring is backed right off.

I sold my mkI to MPB a few months ago for £640. It saves paying the ebay charges & free collection. It's definitely worth upgrading to the mkII.

Hi Ray, no i didn't trade it in, MPB will buy your lens without part Ex. If you go on there website they will give you a quote and arrange a courier to collect it. You might get more for it on ebay but after you have paid their fees you're no better off. I got my mkII lens from Panamoz http://panamoz.com/ and can recommend them :thumb:

Sold my mk1 on ebay. Bought mk2 from calumet.

Do it you won't regret it.

Have a look at my website wildflight.co.uk in the gallery waders etc, first 3 pics, pintail and tufted duck taken with lens.

Canon 5D Mk4 plus long lenses, and lots of hope!

MPB offered £515, I would deffo want more than that. Just checked panamoz, they have the mk.2 for £1305, that seems very cheap??
